I know the standard tax ded is 5700 or u can choose to itemize. I’m starting a business later this year so i dont have a tax professional just yet, trying to get a better understanding.

    You might want to ask this question in the right category to get answers. There is no "standard deduction" in Canada.

    The standard personal deductions are there whether or not you’re self employed, running a business, or an employee. There is the one thing, the Canada Employment Amount, that you have to have had employment income to qualify for.

    If you are self employed or run a business you are entitled to deduct your business expenses from your gross business income to get to your net business income. There is more information on that in the CRA publication for business and professional income, link below.

    Hiring a bookkeeper is a very good investment, and they don’t cost that much. Hardly anything compared to the cost of having no idea what’s happening financially with your business.
