Contact your state dept of revenue. Some states even have a cd that you can run on your computer, and will walk you through very specific details. Also, turbo tax is excellent for small business. Don’t forget that paying an accountant to walk you through the process is tax deductible as well. Usually, most big purchases you make for yur business have to be depreciated in increments over several years time, and things that are consumable are immediate. I think that if you intend to buy a vehicle, you have to use that vehicle for that business for the rest of its life, or the IRS will charge you back! Be careful! An accountant always knows best.

As a rule, you are allowed to deduct reasonable and necessary expenses to operate the business.

If you operate your business for the tax breaks, the IRS is likely to call it a hobby. If it’s a hobby, you pay taxes on your *gross* profits, not your net profits.

At least in the early years, you need to concentrate on *increasing* your taxes (by generating large profits) rather than concentrating on tax avoidance.

Taxes are a big part of the profit statement. You should always consider whether it is a tax deduction, billable or for yourself. Seek the help of a tax/CPA professional to determine the answer to this questions and avoid a costly mistake.
