my boss runs his own business. I know that health insurance is expensive, but was wondering if I could get health insurance through him. Are there any health insurance companies that work with business owners to get benefits for their employees? Could it possibly be a tax write off or deduction if he got me health insurance? I certainly do not make enough money to have insurance on my own, but do not qualify for any help from the gov’t.

Any websites on information about this would be helpful so I could put together a little package to show him. I’d like to ask him about it within the next few weeks. Thanks!!

In order to qualify for a home loan, how should I file my taxes for 2009?

How should I file my 2009 taxes in order to have the greatest chance of being approved for a home loan? I have been self-employed since 2004 but I was also employed full-time for another company until 10/07. My 2004-2005 taxes were filed under an LLC S-Corp. 2006 taxes under sole-proprietorship and W2 for my full-time employer. 2007 & 2008 I used Turbo Tax Home & Business as a sole proprietor. I’m going to a reputable accountant, tax consultant, and mortgage broker next week for more advice but would like to prepare myself with any other questions before doing so. My business has made a profit since I started it in 2007 but as many business owners do, I’ve had enough deductions to show very little profit. I’m concerned the banks won’t like this. I can show a great profit for 2009 if I need to in order to get a loan as my company really does make a good profit. I hope this makes sense. Does anyone have any answers that might help. I currently do my taxes myself but will a lender want a professional office to have completed my taxes? Thanks

Help me understand capital gain/loss when selling equipment from a business that is out of business.?

This is for a business that is shutting down. There is equipment and things that was bought over the years that were needed in the manufacturing process of the products. Some of these these tools were actually made by the business owners, some were bought. H&R block said the owners need to try to figure out how much it cost them to buy those things when they did or figure how much it cost them to make the tools they made(supplies that were used as a deduction to make these tools). And then show that for Income tax purposes. What if they dont know exactly what they do?
I guess the issue is when these purchases and tool making supplies were deducted vs. the sale income from selling the equipment today. Any advice.

Why don’t people understand that a company making over 250K is not in the tax increase?

There are two numbers. Your top line sales which is you gross income. Then your deductions and expenses. That equals net income. Your net income is the bottom line. What you pay taxes on. This is where you fall when it comes to paying taxes. It seems most people don’t understand that the income of a business is not the taxable line.
After posting this I realized that I should have reworded the questions to "Do business owners understand that top line sales is not the same as bottom line sales?

which is better for small business taxes…profit or loss?

some people say show a loss. we have a lawncare business and have a lot of deductions. We will still show a profit again this year.(2yr old business) A couple of business owners tell me to use more deductions and show a loss. We have two small children, so wouldnt it be better to show more of a profit for the tax credits. I dont get it. Would we be better. I dont want to mess them up. I am using turbo tax.

Tax Deductions – Working out of my own home?

I work a second job from home, in a different state. When I took this job I was offered to do it through contracting or as a regular employee. I was advised by the company it would be easier for me to stay on as an employee rather than do contracting so my taxes were taken out automatically. I then stressed that if I am a regular employee working from home I need to be able to deduct house expenses from my W-2. I was assured I would be allowed to do this.

Now that tax time is upon us I decided to log into turbo tax. I could not find anywhere that allows me to deduct a portion of my rent, business supplies, electricity, the new PC I purchased to use for the job. I only see it for people that consult or for business owners.

Is there any way to deduct expenses on your tax return for a second job, run out of your house where you are employed with an employer?

how to start a home business?

I want to start a candle business that I will run out of my home, I’m looking for advice from successful business owners, about if I need a business license to get started, or if I should start small, and if I am bringing in any profit, take it to the next level with the license.

How do the tax deductions work exactly?

Why would a small business file an individual tax return?

The premise of my question is based on some politicians’ suggestion that all business owners will file tax returns as individuals, thereby losing all their rightful deductions in order to not be taxed as a business because the exemption for tax increases is income under 0K?

What are all the tax deductions you can think of for income tax, for most people.?

i know if u have kids, thats 1 tax deduction. what else?

only tax income. not business owners.
