I already know you cannot deduct you actual travel To and FROM work. But my husband’s job requires him to travel to different job sites (construction/maintenance) They always tell me I can’t deduct it either way but have been reading differently. It is his personal car and it does not use a business logo. The company also gives him /week for gas which is not taxed on his paystub. He spends more than , more around . I can’t find the information that shows if you "qualify" for a deduction and I also want to prove to the darn tax preparer that he indeed can deduct if he can. (Last year she said no, we couldn’t). Can someone please point me in the right direction or recommend a tax preparer that actually trains their preparers. We use Jackson Hewitt

What does it usually cost to have H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt prepare a tax return? We have no home business, and just the normal 1040 with schedule A deductions – married filing joint, if that helps.
I’m considering having someone else do them because my husband is adamant – we’ve used turbo tax for the last several years with no issues, but I can’t convince him that we’re not "getting less than we should." That’s the only reason I’m entertaining this option – if it were up to me, I’d do them myself.

Hello,
I am wanting to do my taxes myself this year and I am kinda confused with deductions. I am going to use "STANDARD DEDUCTION" this year and I know that I can itemize a few things like business related expenses with my standard deduction. I thought I couldn’t write off business deduction becouse it was either standard deduction or itemized deductions, this is true but I talked to a few people at jackson hewitt and they told me that I can write off business expenses with a standard deduction. I wanted to get you guys input as well as ask what are exact things I can write off for business expenses while using a standard deduction. If you have a webpage I can visit to answer my question that would be wonderful too. I know you guys are pros so thats why I am coming to you for my questions.
Thank you so much for your time and all of you input will be highly valued and used.
Take care!

I do research for, and give presentations in, the public and private sector, and have created a consulting firm (LLC) through which to run expenses and to have a business "front" to what I do. I have looked at the IRS Schedule A Itemized Deductions documents, and the Jackson-Hewitt deductions pages online. I have also searched through Yahoo Answers. I’m curious if anyone has created an Excel spreadsheet or if there is another web resource out there that itemizes the tax deductions I would typically be able to make each year. Of course, flights, hotels, gas involved in travel related to the consulting would be deducted, as would computer software and hardware that is needed for the business. It would be fantastic if there was some kind of list out there for consultants who do this type of thing. Thanks in advance for your advice and help.
