I have a very small business that is an Scorp…made absolutely no money …income is pretty much equal to expenses and I do not draw a salary. Once again I have put off till the last minute to file taxes. In reading some of the questions asked by others, am I correct in that I have to do this by March 15? (that was yesterday!!!!). I also worked full time for another company and have w2 forms for those jobs. I will be taking standard deductions since I don’t have enough to itemize. I am hoping I can just find a program online that will take me step by step. Oh… also have nothing that will be depreciated. Am I making a big mistake by trying to do this myself? help!

I own a service based business where I set appointments up weeks in advance. On occasion clients will cancel at the last minute on me. This leaves me with an open slot and a few hours where I can’t earn any money. Can I count those lost dollars that I would have earned if they didn’t cancel as a deduction on my taxes? If so, how?
So what are the losses that the IRS allows you to deduct? Real goods like equipment, theft, etc.?

Hi. I have Turbo Tax 2007 Home and Business. I started a new company last year. No revenues – only expenses. I rent where I live. I tried to add my home office as an expense, but it didn’t work with Turbo Tax. I think it’s a bug in the software. I was on the phone for an hour with their tech support, and he had the same issue. Does anyone know which fields I can fill out to over-ride their software and enter my deductions? I looked on the form, and it’s going to bring my home office expenses over to 2008. Not sure why. Thanks. And, I know it’s last minute being April 14th and all.

What form do I use to file for all my itemized deductions (time, travel, planning, catering, budgeting, meetings with clients for menus, etc…..) I’m pretty lost……Any help would be great, I posted this earlier, and I got some info on Owning a Business…….I don’t own a business…..Do I use a 1040 long form or is there another one?? I was told Schedule C and Schedule SE were used, but those are for business owners, which I"M NOT…….Any help would be great…..And I know it’s the last minute, but I’m also filing an extension…….Thanks in advance……
I’m a private chef for 3 families here in Encinitas…….I was 1099′d by ALL of them, I didn’t know that I was going to be, I thought I was going to be able to fill out a 1040 form. I may be a culinary genuis, but when it comes to taxes, I’m a complete moron, obviously…….

I was on the commitee of a charity benefit poker run. I am suspicious that someone within our group is using the event for their own profit. (tax deduction for donation). She owns a gas station/ convience store. She just tells us that she can get it cheaper through the store. She keeps all the receipts for the items she supplies for the benefit until the last minute to turn in to be reinbursed. Is she wrong for using the tax deduction for the business? Or am I overreacting?
Is she double dipping ? She gets reimbursed and she tells us that she is not deducting this on her taxes but she only turns in copies of the receipts. She says she is keeping them safe.
