I worked for a small business from June 09 to Oct 09.
I never filled out a W4 while working there. Also, my checks never came with a stub.
I always just got a check written out from their personal account. I know from the amounts of
the checks that deductions were being taken out. At the time I trusted them and didn’t do anything about it.
The business was obviously shoddily run and I had a lot of problems with them. I should have amended that situation earlier, but I didn’t even want to deal with them anymore at the time.
I know it’s still early, but I haven’t gotten a W2 yet and cannot get in touch with anyone from the business to request one.
What can I do if I don’t get a W2 form from them?
Can I still file if I don’t have pay stubs? I have no idea exactly what they took out for taxes.
My checks were always what I expected them to be after taxes, SS, etc were taken out as compared to other jobs where I made the same hourly wage.

I was definitely on their payroll during this time and legally should get a W2. I know this because I filed an unemployment claim. The employer appealed, but an UE judge ruled in my favor and I qualified. I am sure that decision didn’t make the employer very happy, but they still have to give me a W2.
Maybe it will still come before the 15th.

I didn’t know until I looked on the MN Dept. of Labor website today that legally they had to issue a paystub at the end of every pay period.
I could go on and on about the things that go on in that place.

Did you know your Turbo tax federal refund might be delayed if you authorized Turbo Tax to deduct fees?

If you filed your taxes via Turbo tax, and authorized them to deduct the processing fees from your refund amount- did you know that will delay the amount of time it will take you to get back your money? You’ll get a copy from Metabank that has this message:

"Thank you for selecting Meta Bank to process your income tax refund. We have received notice from the IRS or state agency that all or part of your tax refund will be deposited with us on………
As soon as we receive your refund, we will make all authorized deductions and disburse the balance of your refund to you using the disbursement method selected by you. If you elected to have your refund deposited into your personal account. please allow 1-2 business days for your bank to post the deposit to your account."

My question is- what is the longest Meta bank will hold on to the money?

Setting up new company. I would like to set up payroll and IRS deductions on my own with out the middle man.?

I have started an S-corp. I plan to pay myself a set amount once a month for payroll. By the way…do I need to fill out a W-2 for myself? So each month from that set amount I will deduct the 7.65% and the Federal tax from my gross pay and cut a check for the net to myself. Then each month I will need to send the IRS (by automatic draft) payroll taxes (is this the 7.65 from the company or the 15.3 for both the company and myself? What form do I use?). Then quarterly I will pay est. Federal tax for the salary I receive. For this I can take a draw from the company but it must be paid through my personal account, not business account. I will need to keep accurate payroll records for which there is software available (Quickbooks, etc.). I just wanted to clarify that I have the correct understanding of payroll and taxes. I would really like not have to use a CPA for a 1-person business, except for the yearly taxes. I appreciate any words of wisdom.

Can rent be a tax deduction in anyway? i live in the state of Washington.
Also, If i was to have a home office and pay rent from my business, does it have to go to her or to us? (I mean does a part of the payment goes to her from the business and the other part from personal account?) how does the whole thing affect my land lord?
