I’m married. I make more money than my husband, though I only claimed one dependent on my w2 this year – though the worksheet (which I didn’t understand) said I could choose 2, since we both work. We live in SC, and we have no children (2 dogs). I was told that by choosing two though, I run the risk of owing the IRS money in February – because they’ll take out less taxes during the pay weeks. Does anyone have any advise? I’d rather not owe the IRS anything, and make less weekly!
Also, I do itemize my taxes because of my Mary Kay business. I was told that may help me as well – though I don’t know what kind of deductions I’m looking at (I didn’t file it last year)…. I know that was vague… but I would like some hints.

Ebay sales and taxes?

I had 00 in total ebay sales last year. It was for my own private art hobby / business. Due to startups and what not, I had expenses of ,000, so a net loss of 00. Turbo tax states that my risk for an uadit is HIGH, due to my deductions.

Since this was not an income, can or should I just not report it at all?

Is affirmative action and reverse discrimination doing more harm than good?

This is not racist, this is reality… Let’s say you are a small business owner and your goal as with any business is to make a profit and run your company as you see fit. If your business employs one hundred workers and you hire only white employees you are at great risk of penalty by not hiring minorities. Some may say that is racist to only hire white workers but why should you be forced to hire minorities if they are not the best candidate for the job? Why is it right to hire a woman to do a job that has physically demanding requirements of a man like firefighter who must carry an injured person down a ladder. Can a 90 pound woman carry a 200 pound man down a ladder? IF you use a written test to hire based on scores if a minority person does not test as high as a white person what right does a loser have to get that job. I see this sort of thing all the time and in short the best person for the job should get the job not a tax deduction for the employer to hire the handicapped.
